Sally Vasquez helps WMC break down barriers to better serve a growing segment of our population.

The CNA recently relied on her fluency in Spanish and English to help a severely injured patient and his family, who spoke only Spanish. She stayed with them throughout every step of a long hospital stay, facilitating care and offering a source of comfort. “I am glad to say they are doing fine, and they keep in touch with me,” she says. “I know they were pleased with the care and the assistance in communication WMC offered them.”

The outcome reinforces Sally’s reason for becoming involved in patient care at WMC more than seven years ago. “I enjoy making a difference in people’s lives. I enjoy helping patients by making them laugh and putting smiles on their faces, giving them a hug or just listening to them when there is only sadness, worry or fear in their faces or mind. I am glad and proud of what I do for our patients at WMC.”

That pride extends to her co-workers. “I know every one of them is a hard worker, and they all inspire me in one way or another. At Wyoming Medical Center, we work as a team for our patients.”
